Porthcothan Bay and surrounding area
Porthcothan Bay is one of Cornwall's most beautiful beaches, situated just a few miles south of the busy harbour town of Padstow with its many famous seafood restaurants. Porthcothan is part of the "seven bays for seven days" grouping of beaches, which also includes Constantine, Trevone and Treyarnon which are all close by.
The tidal range in the bay is up to seven metres providing a fantastic beach with rocky headlands and pools being exposed at low tide. The cliffs are rich in wildlife and are protected by the National Trust. To the south west it is a relatively short walk along the coast path to the famous Bedruthan Steps. Beyond is the busy town of Newquay and the famous Fistral
Beach.
Surfing
Great surfing beach for both beginners and the experienced surfer.
